Tripods
A tripod is a device that has three legs and is used to hold the camera which is placed on top. It allows you to place and angle the camera in anyway needed without introducing the issue of movement when actually shooting the photo. This is especially important when you start to work with slower shutter speeds to ensure you don’t introduce unnecessary blur to the image.
Grips
Grips, as far as tools, are used for the purpose of mounting equipment. Whether the camera itself or things to the camera. For example a battery grip adds more batteries to the camera in order to extend its battery life. On the other hand a grip is also an occupation. A job on a production set typically, a grip works with camera crew to provide camera support.
Holds
When handling a camera it is important that you know how to hold it properly. If the camera is held correctly you should have very little issue with stability and getting clear shots vs. incorrectly holding the camera. The most important thing you should know is to create contact points. Pull your elbows into your sides to increase stability. You should also know to hold the camera with an underhanded grip. Along with getting clearer shots overall a steadier grip allows you to work with a higher range of shutter speeds.
