How much do I charge?

Appropriate Pricing for your design work

What influences the cost

The average pricing range for designers are within the range of $20 to $150 an hour though not all designers charge hourly. Based on what you your customer needs and on many factors about yourself can greatly influence this price. If what your customer needs is just a very small illustration then the cost may go down. If they require a very intensive job then the cost can go up.

Time frame is another big factor in pricing. If you are working on something that doesn’t have a strict time frame charging by how long it will take you is a factor. On the other side of it if you have a very tight and constricting deadline you have to meet you can also charge higher for the express work you are doing.

The other major influence that can be somewhat determined by your customer is how much experience you have in the field. Obviously a more experienced designer can do more in less time and has a better sense for the work than an inexperienced person.

Smaller factors for this include what type of project are you doing, do you have any guidelines, who is involved with the project etc. With all of this stuff stated above, it should be somewhat easy to figure out an appropriate price.
